HARSH ENVIRONMENTS…HIGH HUMIDITY…SAFETY AGENCY APPROVED
Simplifies testing agency compliance in EMI/RFI filter, bypass and coupling applications.
Designed to connect across the AC input of a line powered device, Illinois Capacitor’s new “THB” Series capacitors suppress radio frequency interference (RFI) in products that must operate out-of-doors or in other harsh environments.

The THB Series meets a full complement of safety agency X2 Class approvals, including UL, CSA, VDE and many others. In the event of a failure, X2 Class devices do not present an electrical shock hazard to users of the equipment. Environmental performance is exceptional, with -40°C to 110°C with 85% RH standard.

With self-healing metallized polypropylene film construction, THB interference suppressors provide excellent electrical and environmental performance.   Capacitance ranges from 0.0047 to 2.2
mF, at 300/310VAC, 50-60Hz.   Maximum peak voltage is £1200 volts. The solvent-resistant, box-style plastic case and epoxy seal are both UL 94V-0 flame retardant. Ultra-fast charge/discharge cycling; low ESR; Max. 3A current pulses.

The Illinois Capacitor THB series can be a practical way to provide the additional RFI suppression needed to meet FCC or other regulatory approvals. Applications include outdoor appliances, ATMs, vending machines, kiosks, motor controls, AC line suppression, industrial controls, power supplies, ballasts and antenna coupling.  -MORE-

COIN CELL STYLE SUPERCAPACITORS PROVIDE
MEMORY BACKUP FOR CRITICAL CIRCUITS

The DC Series of Coin Cell Style Supercapacitors from Illinois Capacitor provide
on-board memory backup at much longer life spans than batteries. With 0.15 to 4 Farads of capacity, at voltages up to 5.5 WVDC these devices can supply sufficient power to prevent loss of data during a power interruption. This is as much as five times the capacitance of some other coin type supercapacitors or ultracapacitors. Available in three case configurations for horizontal, vertical and center-lead mounting.

The DC Series includes numerous values and lead combinations with case sizes as small as 6.8 x 4.6  mm. Operating temperature ranges from -40°C to +85°C and 90-95% relative humidity. Other features include very fast charge/discharge cycling, IEC 62391 and RoHS compliance and low ESR.

DC Series capacitors are ready to board mount in such applications as smart meters, HVAC controls, building automation, business phone systems, appliances, instruments and other microprocessor-based devices. Because of their high power density, they can help to reduce board size and case requirements. -MORE-

FLAT SUPERCAPACITORS SUPPORT
BATTERIES FOR LONGER LIFE

The new DFC series of supercapacitors from Illinois Capacitor is a real “game changer” for many portable devices.  Designed specifically to support lithium batteries, flat DFC series capacitors can extend the lifespan of the battery by up to three times.  Capacitance values range from 0.007F up to 0.7 Farads.  Working voltages range up to 12 WVDC, the largest voltage for a supercapacitor in a single package.

DFC supercapacitors are perfect for a wide-range of applications.  This includes such products as GPS units, RFID units, Bluetooth, LED flashers, bar-code readers, remote-control systems, alarm and security systems and portable audio amplifiers.

The battery/DFC combination can easily supply almost any required pulse current.  After each pulse, the capacitor is quickly recharged by the battery between the pulse cycles. This reduces stress on the battery, greatly extending its overall life.   And unlike batteries, supercaps do not degrade with each cycle, so the lifespan of the DFC far exceeds any lithium battery.

As thin as 1.9mm, DFC series capacitors are easy to design-in.  The device is simply wired in parallel with the battery. DFC supercaps are available in radial lead and flat gull-wing style terminations.  They are not only RoHS compliant, but are especially environmentally friendly,  since they are produced using a water-based electrolyte instead of standard ACN electrolytes used by other manufacturers.

The manufacturing process for the DFC series is very different from conventional supercapacitors.   Developed by Cellergy, of Israel, this patented process is based on conventional printing techniques, reducing the high cost factors usually associated with supercaps.  -MORE-
